Nothing Wasted Studio

A studio exploring material, form, and process

Work

I usually start with something unexpected I’ve found — in the trash, at a thrift store, or from old architectural building materials. If it has a color, texture, or shape that speaks to me, it usually finds a way to fit with the others. I cut, layer, and move things around mostly at random, letting the materials guide the composition. Each piece is a conversation between textures, forms, and history — a process of discovery where the beauty comes from the paths the materials took to arrive together, the unexpected juxtapositions, and the endless possibilities of how it could have turned out.

About

In 2023, I was working as a maintenance technician at a high-rise in downtown Phoenix. The building, the first high-rise in the city, was built in 1915. Its basement had lived many lives — once a bank, then offices for the Department of Civil Defence, and sometime in the 60s, a portion of it became a workshop.
By the time I got there, it was run down, full of trash and discarded materials. I spent a lot of time after work cleaning it up and slowly turning it into my first studio. While clearing space, I found all sorts of materials.
Since then, I’ve moved to the mountains of Flagstaff, built a new studio, and brought that spark of inspiration with me. I still find new materials along the way — and each one leads me somewhere I didn’t expect.
